There are five things I’m thinking about. And no matter what, Manti Te’o is not one of them. Sorry Katie Couric; no matter what, I’m not buying a word of what he has to say. I’m more surprised that his draft stock remains unchanged. Personally, I think once he goes through the psychological examinations we’ll have a better idea. Until then, I’ll wait and see what Dane Brugler has to say. Well, I guess I am thinking about it.
So…on to the five, er four:
2. Django Unchained is linked to Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction (Tarantino fans will dig this). Tarantino is awesome. He is building a complicated, delicately woven filmverse that his fans can truly enjoy. While I’m not as wowed by the Crazy Craig Coons reference, I am loving the Beatrix Kiddo/Paula Schultz tie. Read all about it.
3. J.J. Abrams to direct the next Star Wars. I’m listening. Episode VII (need to get used to saying that) is going to be directed by JJ Abrams. If Abrams can do for Star Wars what he did for Star Trek…great move. However…can he handle the pressure? Think about it. One of the biggest fanboys directing the greatest movie franchise of all time. That’s a lot to live up to. If he gets it right – he’s made. MADE. If he misses…oh man. I think of him reacting like Chris Farley, smashing that roll in Tommy Boy.
4. Ashton Kutcher’s first Jobs scene debuts. Did you see this sneak peek of Ashton Kutcher playing Steve Jobs? What do you think? I really want this movie to be good but I’m a little skeptical. We’ll find out in April, I guess. You know who’s not impressed? The other Steve – Steve Wozniak is “embarrassed” by it.
5. All fear…the Pelicans? Lame. Seriously, this is the best you can do? We’ve heard so much about renaming the New Orleans franchise the Pelicans and this is what they come out with? Come on. You have to look close to even see the Pelican. And while we’re talking about it, I’m not a fan of Pelicans. I don’t care if it is a tie to New Orleans.
