Editor’s note: Today I am very excited to turn the blog over to our new Director, Account Services, April Wonsick. Tuesday featured a post from our first ever General Manager, Angela Bachman. Not only are we strengthening our team through these senior positions but we’re doing it by promoting from within. And we’ve done it with two people who understand the essence of AKHIA and what makes us different to employees and clients alike. I hope you enjoy getting to know them this week!
AKHIA is deeply rooted in account service. It is the foundation on which Jan Gusich, our CEO, built the company 17 years ago with the mission to “serve our clients beyond their expectations, in everything we do”. And, as the agency continues to evolve and expand our capabilities into digital, social and content marketing, among others, “working to exceed client expectations” is still one of the first answers you’ll get from Ben Brugler, our president, if you ask “What does AKHIA do?” In my new role as Director of Account Services, I’m excited to help carry the service torch and lead a smart, passionate team dedicated to holding true to this service model in everything we do.
So, who is the account service team? We are strategists, counselors, creative thinkers, planners, organizers, managers, writers, educators and implementers all rolled into one team . We sit at the core of everything the agency does, working closely with our talented colleagues from our creative, content, digital and social teams, to deliver results for our clients. We work to spot opportunities and trends that create a competitive advantage for our clients’ businesses. We share new ideas to help challenge our clients’ thinking while pushing our own creativity. And, we try to always stay a step ahead, proactively anticipating the needs of our clients and their businesses.
Part of my new role will include working closely with all of our account teams on these initiatives, helping shape strategy and working together to uncover opportunities to help clients meet their business and marketing goals. I will also be helping to spearhead a focus on media relations best practices. It’s an area where I have a unique perspective and a passion having spent time early in my career as a broadcast journalist (no, I don’t still have any old air check tapes from my days in local TV news). But, seriously, I love the thrill of the chase in pitching and landing a big story for a client. There’s nothing like it in my opinion and I’m looking forward to helping our team uncover the next big story for our clients.
I’ll also be working with the account service team to continue sharpening our own expertise through ongoing education around industry trends and best practices, all of which we will work to share with clients as we continue to stay at the forefront of the evolving marketing communications landscape.
The best advice I ever received was to find a job I love and it will never feel like work. AKHIA has given me that opportunity and I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead in serving the agency and our clients as Director of Account Services.
