Let’s get right to what was a historical week:
1a. #LoveWins and brands celebrate. The Supreme Court made same sex marriage a right, nationwide on Friday, setting off a celebration on social media that included a large amount of brands. Here is a sampling, courtesy of Digiday.
1b. And Facebook helps us all celebrate. Not mentioned in the Buzzfeed article is the tool that Facebook released moments after the historical announcement—you can add a rainbow filter to your profile pic by simply going to facebook.com/celebratepride. So, if you’re wondering how everyone is doing that to their pic, now you know.
2. Witness the first ever press release written entirely in emojis. Yep, emojis might be here to stay. And you may have to learn the language sooner than you thought. Last week Chevy introduced the 2016 Cruz in a press release written in the tween native tongue of emoji. Wonder if Rosetta Stone offers a course in this?
3. The best time of the day to do…anything. Ever wonder the best time to send an email? Make a tough decision? Well you’ll want to read this FastCompany article discussing this and more. (On a totally unrelated note, you can all expect to see a lot more emails between 6 a.m. – 7 a.m.)
4. What if Dora the Explorer advertised cigarettes? [Video] At one time that may not have been as far fetched as it sounds. Check out this look back at how cigarettes used to be advertised (Fred Flintstone?) and realize just how far we’ve come as a society.
5. The final ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ trailer is out. And it’s the beginning of the end. I’m in marketing and yet I fall for the hype every time. Forget the summer movie hype—I cannot wait for this to start in August!
This week’s ‘One Question, One Answer’ is a little different. In case you missed it, AKHIA was named a Top Workplace for the third year in a row…and the tables were turned on me this week…
